Aryaman Birla, son of Kumar Mangalam Birla, is set to become the chairman of Royal Challengers Bengaluru following a massive acquisition deal. A consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group, along with global investors, purchased the franchise for about $1.78 billion (₹16,000+ crore), making it one of the biggest deals in IPL history.
Aryaman Birla is not just a businessman—he also has a background in cricket. He played domestic cricket for Madhya Pradesh, featuring in first-class matches and scoring over 400 runs, including a century.
In the IPL 2018 auction, he was picked by Rajasthan Royals for ₹30 lakh. However, he did not get an opportunity to play any matches and was later released before the 2020 season.
He has also shared the dressing room with players like Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer during his domestic cricket career.
Now, at just 28 years old, Aryaman Birla is transitioning from a former cricketer to a key decision-maker in one of the biggest franchises in the Indian Premier League. His appointment marks a significant blend of business leadership and cricketing background in the evolving landscape of IPL franchise ownership.
