Amid concerns over LPG supply disruptions, authorities in Punjab have revised the booking rules for domestic gas cylinders. Households with double-cylinder (two-cylinder) connections must now wait 35 days before booking a refill, compared to the earlier 25-day gap.
For beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the waiting period has been extended even further to 45 days, increasing the delay by 20 days. This makes them one of the most affected groups under the revised system.
The revised timelines vary based on the type of connection. Single-cylinder users can still book after 25 days, while smaller cylinders (5 kg and 10 kg) have shorter waiting periods depending on category and usage.
These changes have been introduced by oil companies to manage supply more efficiently, as LPG availability has come under pressure due to global disruptions, particularly the ongoing West Asia conflict affecting fuel logistics and distribution.
Overall, the increased booking gap is a temporary measure aimed at controlling demand, preventing shortages, and ensuring that available LPG is distributed fairly among consumers.
